Conversion, planning and cost-basis calculations run in your browser. The cost-basis ledger is stored in your browser’s local storage so it can be available on your next visit.
No wallet access
BTCCost does not ask for a wallet address, seed phrase, private key or wallet connection. Never enter those secrets into any calculator.
No affiliate tracking
BTCCost does not rank exchanges, use exchange referral links or receive a commission for where you buy Bitcoin.
Backups and clearing local data
Export your ledger as a local JSON file before clearing browser data. Backup files include your purchase amounts and dates; keep them private. Restore reads and validates the file on your device. “Clear all” removes saved purchases from this browser.
What leaves your browser?
The browser requests a reference price from BTCCost with only the selected currency. Our server fetches public price sources. Calculator inputs and ledger entries are not included in those requests. Like any hosted website, requests expose normal connection information, such as IP address and user agent, to the hosting provider.
Sharing a calculation
Copying a calculation link includes your budget, fees and fixed reference price. Anyone with that link can read these values. They are stored in the URL fragment, which is not sent with the page request. Your ledger is never included. BTCCost uses no advertising or analytics trackers.
